Stop and Frisk is a police practice that allows police officers to publicly pat down anyone,  non discriminatory towards age or gender, and can arrest them depending on what they find. Stop and Frisk is a controversial law because the majority of people targeted were people of color, and stop and frisk led to arrests that should not have occurred, but also allowed for misconduct by police. Numbers have declined greatly though, and there were only about 20,000 cases of stop and frisk in 2015, compared to almost 700,000 cases a few years prior. stop-and-frisk
